The Organisation

… the background story

Cheating spouses, marital woes, suspicious relationships – bad news for the person caught in the middle of such predicaments but good news for Absolute Tec and Services Pte Ltd, a private investigation agency in Singapore. Because they were avenues that the agency was making money – through the procurement of evidence for their clients in court battles – that ultimately led to the break up of marriages and families.

Sometime in 1998, the directors of the agency, through an enlightenment of their Christian faith, decided to move away from the lucrative business of procuring evidence for divorce proceedings and sought to preserve families instead. The news of this change of heart caught the attention of the press years later. An article on the private eyes’ mission to save marriages appeared in the Sunday Times of 10 Apr 2005. The article also highlighted that the directors were pursuing another mission to motivate and inspire individuals to take upon a personal responsibility towards building a caring society through a quarterly magazine called myLovematters.

Soon after the news article appeared, the agency was flooded with telephone calls. Some wanted help in their estranged marital relationships whilst others urged the agency to form a non-profit organization (NPO) to effectively carry out its mission of saving marriages and to bring about a caring society – as a NPO would be able to receive support from the public and other organizations to do these.

After considering the suggestions received from various quarters, the directors of the agency registered myLovematters as a non-profit organization in June 2005. A few months later, a bombshell fell on the Singapore’s charitable sector when a respected non-profit organization was scandalized due to the mismanagement of public funds by its senior management team. The general public felt betrayed and many became skeptical of NPOs, especially after a few more if them received adverse publicity over their management affairs. myLovematters, being a new NPO, suffered as a result of these scandals and did not receive the envisaged support from the public - and was subsequently de-registered as a NPO in February 2007.

Despite the odds and turns, the directors of the private investigation agency did not abandoned their original mission and decided to pursue it under a social enterprise called “myLovemattersNetwork”. The priority of the day of this newly formed social enterprise is to build up a network of caring individuals through its privilege card membership programme.
